The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Talking is Easier than Walking
How many projects do we start and never finish? How many “good ideas” are forgotten in the morning light? How many impulses to write notes of appreciation never find their way from pen to paper? We tend to talk about accomplishing much more than we do. We can have the best intentions, but any number of reasons can cause us not to do what we say we want to do. Most of us learn to accept some of that as part of our fallen human nature, but it generates anxiety when we experience it because our best intentions are not always backed up our best actions.
One of the great truths of Scripture is that in God’s relationship with us, His actions and words are consistent. God doesn’t say He cares, and then absent Himself, when we need Him most. He doesn’t say He loves us, and then ignore, or hurt us. His purpose is to free us from the power of sin. His action is to accomplish this even at the cost of His Son. His purpose is to release us from the curse of death. His action was to raise His Son from death and attach us to Him in Baptism so that we would live with Him forever.
Lord, thank You for following Your words with action. Help me to be more like You in all my doings. Amen.
