The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Revelation 7:9-17; Ephesians 2:6-7 / Psalm 71

“God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:6

Seated with Jesus

How often it feels as though we are sitting in the back row of the balcony, no less – when it comes to honor! Few of us are numbered among the great, the noble, and the mighty. Most of us Christians are just ordinary folk, doing what our hands find to do, and trying to be faithful in our daily work.
This is not bad unless we also fail to realize, and appreciate the status we have in Christ Jesus, and the truth of our union with Him. He does not want us to think poorly of ourselves; after all, He felt we were worth dying for. Therefore, as Christians we are not confined to any backseats of life. We are seated with Christ on the heavenly realms. We participate as members of His body in the grand reign of Christ over His enemies. We are a part of His design to unite the whole universe under His Lordship.
Maybe this sounds a bit removed from the nitty-gritty of life’s struggles, because we do at times experience discouragements. But God cannot lie; He says you are seated with Christ in heavenly places. It is more than enough to cause our spirits to soar.
When I am down, Lord Jesus, help me to recall that my union with You assures me if ultimate victory. Amen.
