The Best of the Portals of Prayer
Read: Philippians 2:5-7 / John 14:15-26
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.”
Philippians 2:5-7
Christ – Mindedness
These words are full of pure gold! Here is the secret of joy in hard times. Here is the solution of all our tragic mistakes, our false ideas, and what is wrong in the world. It is the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ was to do the will of God. In Gethsemane, He prayed to his Father, “as you will” [Matthew 26:39]. Voluntarily, He submitted Himself to the death of the cross because He knew man was lost and could not be saved without His sacrifice. Humbly, though He possessed all majesty, He minded this task until it was finished, and the sinner saved.
It is most important that this mind of Christ be in us. The Spirit of God calls us to this mind of Christ by the Gospel, enlightens, and keeps us in the knowledge of this mind of Christ. He creates faith in our hearts to see Christ as He is in truth, and thus he awakens us to a new life, so that we serve and humbly trust in God’s love toward the fallen sinner. May we keep this mind of Christ all our days.
Lord, that we may live to serve Thee, and may Thy mind dwell in us until it grow to be our mind as well. Amen.
