Day by Day with Martin Luther

Read: Judges 8:18-9:21 Luke 23:44-24:12 Proverbs 14:9-10

“Help in the Midst of Trouble”

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.”
[Psalm 138:7]

When they think they are already done for, when everywhere there is despair and no hope of escaping, then the Lord is present and helps them. In this way the Lord is present in the middle years, that is, He is the Helper in the middle of trouble, and at the right times, as we have it in Psalm 138:7. Job teaches us also in a wonderful way all these things about the Exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt through the sea, how they passed through the sea safely, although Pharaoh was pressing on and pursuing them with his entire army. God gave His children water out of a rock, food from heaven, etc. See how he cares for His people, no matter what happens?
