The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Matthew 21:1-9 / Psalm 124

“Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”
Philippians 2:11

From Cross to Crown

Shortly before His death and resurrection, Jesus was honored by the multitude in Jerusalem that sang: “hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest” [Matthew 21:9]. We even have more reason to give Him honor as the exalted Christ, we can acknowledge Him as the crucified and resurrected King.
When we honor our King, let us make sure that we know how he attained His glory and honor. For Him, the way led to a cross, to death for our sins. He was glorified through death on an accursed tree. It was a difficult way, but since it was the Father’s will, Jesus accepted it. He knew this way alone would satisfy the sacrifice that was needed. Jesus made clear that in His kingdom there will be true service. May we always seek to serve – not to seek honor – but to serve our neighbor.

Dear Father, let the mind of Jesus Christ dwell in me all my days. Amen.
