“A Simple Explanation”

“The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”
[Psalm 19:7]

Christ’s kingdom is established … not with human force, wisdom, counsel or power, but with the Word and the Gospel. Christ begins, strengthens, and fortifies His kingdom only through His Word. His does so through “infants”, but he does not mean the youngest of children, but plain, simple, ordinary people, who like little children set aside all reason, and grasp and accept the Word with a simple faith. These are also the best scholars – they see the truth and accept it and believing it, do not put themselves above it. “Jesus declared, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children’”. [Matthew 11:25] I only wish we could all be so child-like.
