The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Daniel 2:14-15

“One’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Luke 12:15

When we evaluate the progress that modern man has made and the greatness of our “genius” in bending nature to our purpose, we still need to face the bitter truth that with all this progress, we have not been saved from depression, insecurity, and unhappiness. The human heart still struggles with sin, as selfishness, pride, and hatred control so many of our thoughts and emotions. The way of modern progress is not the way along which we can find a reason for a living hope against our dying. This modern world still has one great discovery to make – it must discover the forgotten truth of God that life does not consist of the abundance of things that we may possess. Life must have the Lord God right in the middle of it and have Him above all things.
The progress of the centuries cannot save us. We know that we have always known that – but not everyone can say that. We need desperately to know the Christ and the saving might of His boundless love.
