Spiritual Regeneration

While Christians are conscious that they have been made new creatures in Christ, they cannot describe how this marvelous change occurred. This is not surprising, because spiritual regeneration is a work of the Holy Spirit through the almighty power of God’s Word. Holy Scripture compares the Word to sown seed that grows by itself, and man knows not how.
In His conversation with Nicodemus, Christ compared the Holy Spirit’s mysterious work to that of the wind, which cannot be seen but whose power can be observed in the results it produces. The results of regeneration are seen when the Spirit delivers men from Satan’s kingdom of darkness into God’s kingdom of light, in which they have redemption through Christ’s blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
Through God’s mercy, the Holy spirit has performed this gracious work in us, brought us to faith in Christ, and made us God’s children and heirs of eternal life. Let us ever show forth His praise.
