“The Purpose of Good Works”
“Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.”
[Galatians 2:16]
We should do good works, but our confidence and faith must not be built upon them, but on Christ’s work. We should not attack sin, death, and hell with our works, but send them away from us to the Righteous Savior, to the King of Zion, who rides on the donkey. He knows how to treat sin, death and hell: He kills sin, chokes death, and devours hell. Let Him take care of such matters, and you apply your works to your neighbor, so that you have a sure testimony of faith in the Savior who kills death.
