The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Jonah 2

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble, I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
Psalm 50:15

Privileged to Pray

One of the greatest privileges we Christians enjoy in this world is that of prayer to our Heavenly Father. Think of the manifold troubles we, meet on life’s rough way: sickness, sorrow, suffering, want, privation, and the sins that harass us. Truly, we are engulfed in a sea of troubles. And must we endure these troubles in sullen silence, in mute resignation? By no means!
We have the privilege of taking every one of our troubles to the Lord in prayer. God even commands us to do so: “call upon me in the day of trouble.” And He hastens to add: “I will deliver you”. What a precious promise. No matter how great the troubles or how long they harass us, God will deliver us. He may not do it today. He may not do it tomorrow. But He will certainly do so in His own good time. We have troubles without number, yet He promises to hear us. What more and better inducement to pray could we possibly have?
