The Best of the Portals of Prayer
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”
Ephesians 6:10
Strong in the Lord
In the fight of faith we must look to our omnipotent God for strength. Through Christ, we are “more than conquerors” [Romans8:37]. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” [Philippians 4:13]. Paul had been summing up the duties of children and parents, servants and masters. When all is said and done and you are endeavoring with the help of God to be the children and parents, servants and masters that you ought to be, then finally be strong in the Lord.
Our strength to be as we ought, whatever our relationship to our fellow man, our strength to fight the fight of faith, whatever our place or position in life, is in the Lord. Our strength for the warfare of faith is not to be found in ourselves nor each other. The Psalmist cries out; “my flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” [Psalm 73:26].
We must draw close to the great Champion of our soul, Christ Jesus. He alone can help us in this spiritual conflict. He knows what the battle is like. He has been through the thick of it. He has met our enemies and conquered them for us.
