The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: John 8:31-51

“If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.”
John 15:22

The Cross Decides

The cross of Calvary holds everyone’s destiny. Life is there; death is there. There, sin is forgiven; there, sin is retained. Truly, Christ is “appointed for the fall and rising of many,” and in Him the “thoughts from many hearts may be revealed” [Luke 2:34-35].
We all have some sort of relationship to Christ. Either we fall before Him in adoration or rise against Him in opposition. Either Christ becomes the foundation stone on which they stand or the rock that will grind them to powder. To some, Christ is the Savior unto life; to others, a Savior unto death. Jesus forgives the sin of the penitent. To the impenitent He says, “the view you take of Me shows who you are.” By rejecting the holiest, the best, the purest One who ever crossed human horizons, men judge themselves. “This is the judgement: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather that the light because their works were evil” John 3:19).

Blessed Redeemer, strengthen me, I ask Thee, by Thy Spirit, that I may ever remain at Thy side and in devotion to thy holy name. Amen.
