“All This Is Vain”

“So he said to them again, “I am going away, …… where I am going, you cannot come.”
[John 8:21]

Therefore be on your guard against flesh and blood, against unbelief and schismatic spirits. Let everyone diligently learn to know Christ, hear the preaching of the Gospel, and know Christ. But Christ sees few doing this, and therefore He must have these thunderclaps to crush the hearts, yes, the world and all people. All this [works and self-appointed worship] is vain, and we are doomed unless at the end God comes to our rescue and we die in faith in Christ.
