The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Romans 15:7 / Psalm 19:14

“Jesus said: ‘for John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, he has a demon. The Son of Man has come eating and drinking and you say, Look at Him. A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.”
Luke 7:33-34

Gospel Acceptance

Someone once said that the Church is not a hotel for saints, but a hospital for sinners. But is it true? Just like those in Jesus’ day who thought they were better than others and who rejected the social outcasts of the day, many Christians today avoid the outcasts today.
Jesus ate and drank with the despised tax collectors and the outcast sinners in the society. He touched the untouchable lepers. He did not condone their sin; rather, He met the people where they were, so that He might teach them of repentance, peace, and forgiveness. And so, we ask the Spirit to instill in us the acceptance our Savior showed, and still shows, of those who may be today’s social outcasts, or those who seek to harm us. By grace, may we always seek to share repentance and grace.
Thank You, gracious Lord, for accepting ma through your death and resurrection, that I may show others your love and grace. Amen.
