The Best of the Portals of Prayer
Read: Ephesians 6:10-18
“We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places”.
Ephesians 6:12
Wisdom Required
A high school wrestling coach discovered to his amazement that the majority of his wrestlers were also members of the school chess team. Wrestling and chess? Despite the absence of physical exertion in chess, both require intelligence. This, of course, counters the notion that wrestling requires all brawn and no brain.
Christians are also wrestlers. We combat the devil and all his principals, powers, and rulers of darkness. Satan’s cunning and wiles are thoroughly described in Scripture. He is a terrifying, able foe.
It will never do for Christians to be unintelligent wrestlers. The unbelieving world often regards Christians as docile, unthinking people that accept what they are told, exist in blind faith, and rarely exercise a brain cell. We dare not accept this description, else we lose the fight.
Our Christian, common sense must be used extensively in wrestling against Satan. Wisdom is available through Christ., who fought and defeated the devil for us. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God” [James 1:5]. He provides it in His Word. But let us apply it ad so put on the whole armor of God.
Lord Jesus, make me a wise wrestler, that I may fight the good fight of faith and, in Jesus Christ, win. Amen.
