The Best of the Portals of Prayer
Read: Daniel 4:4-18 / Psalm 15
“His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion endures from
generation to generation.”
Daniel 4:3
For Thine is the Kingdom
In the above text, Daniel repeats the words of David in Psalm 145:13: “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.” God’s dominion, or kingdom of power, extends over the whole universe: trees, flowers, grass and weeds, money, knowledge, war and peace, hungry children and well-fed kings, houses and huts, crooks and honest folk, palaces and prisons, good and bad times. All this is under God’s dominion and hand. And so, we are to be good stewards over it all. God’s dominion extends also over His kingdom of grace; we are also partakers in it also. This is the Holy Christian Church, the Communion of Saints, which Jesus Christ purchased with His own blood. And God rules over His kingdom of glory, which is heaven. It too, is an everlasting kingdom. May we always yield to God’s loving rule!
Dear Father, bless us to always recognize Your kingdom and seek to further it. Amen.
