The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Acts 23:1-11 / Psalm 24

“Consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.”
1st Corinthians 1:26

God Bless Supporting Actors

People tend to admire the stars who appear on stage and on the large and small screens. Even the Church has it’s own stars – those folks whose God-given talent and dedication have brought them a measure of attention not given to us average church members. The Lord doesn’t use only stars to accomplish His will. He also calls on His “supporting actors” to point us to Christ. Prince Jonathan set aside his own chance to inherit a throne and saved the life of his friend David, the future king [1st Samuel 20]. Jehosheba hid the royal baby Joash from his murderous grandmother Athaliah, making possible the continuation of David’s line, which included Jesus, our Savior [2nd Kings 11].
It is easy to admire Paul for his courage before the powerful and mighty. But that courage was not his own. The Lord Himself supported him, encouraged him, and kept him faithful. Christ strengthened Paul with the strength He Himself demonstrated as He stood before the Sanhedrin, Herod, and Pilate on the way to the cross. This is the strength He promises to give all who bear His name, for He will remain faithful, even unto death. He is our supporting actor. By His acts, he saves us!

Lord, grant us faith to believe that, because You are faithful, You will support us in every trouble. Amen.
