The Best of the Portals of Prayer
Read: Matthew 10:1-5
“And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘here am I. Send me.’ ”
Isaiah 6:8
Send Me
The call to arms has been heard in almost every generation of men. With such a call, hearts become anxious, and the enthusiasm of soldiers is dampened by the tears of a beloved mother or devoted wife. Isaiah also heard the call to march forward. It came from the Holy of Holies, from God.
The enemies of the Lord, the prince of darkness with his mighty host, are out to destroy the kingdom of the Lord. Thousands, yes millions, are enslaved and in bondage to sin. Who shall proclaim to them the Gospel of deliverance? The Son of Man went forth to war and crushed the serpent’s head and destroyed the works of the devil. But we must know that we are free, lest, blinded by sin, we go on our evil ways and to eternal death. Who shall I send? Who will go for us? asks the Lord. He calls to arms the children of his grace, who have been delivered from their bondage and are citizens of His kingdom. But how can we go? We have no weapons. “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts” [Zechariah 4:6]. The Gospel of Calvary delivers the souls of men from sin, death, and the bondage of Satan. In this Gospel we have a weapon that blasts sin and Satan out of the hearts of men and makes their souls a temple of the Holy Spirit.
