The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Luke 17:1-19 // Psalm 121

“One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice.”
Luke 17:15

Be the One

Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem. From a distance, a group of men, all afflicted with leprosy, called to Him, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” [vs. 13] To have leprosy in Jesus’ day was to live as an outcast, separated from loved ones and neighbors and all. Jesus directed them, “go and show yourselves to the priests”. Many of them were also the health officers of the day. As the men went, they were cleansed. They were cured of their leprosy, even though leprosy was considered incurable. But they were cured.
What separates us from God? Sin. How grateful we can be that we have a Savior who chose to enter the world to cure us of sin that separates us. Jesus faced it and defeated it and did the impossible. He cured us of our sin and won the victory for us through His life, death, and resurrection.
From the group of ten lepers in our test, only one returned to give thanks. Only one paused to rejoice and give credit to the Redeemer. Join the one who was thankful for Christ’s love. Be the one who turns to God daily with gratitude for the gift of Christ Jesus.
