The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Revelation 11:15-19 // Psalm 128

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.”
Revelation 11:15

King Forever

When the 86 year old Polycarp, an early Christian Church Father, had been burned at the stake, the congregation at Smyrna wrote an account of it, dating the martyrdom of their pastor with the triumphant words: “Statius Quatdratus being proconsul, but Jesus Christ being King forever.” Where today is Statius Quadratus? and Herod? and Nero? and the dictators of the world? and all who set themselves against the Lord and His Anointed Son?
Truly, Jesus Christ is King forever. And His kingdom, the Church remains forever. The eternal Christ – the same yesterday, today, and forever. What a King we have. And it is His pleasure to give us the Kingdom and in it make us kings and priests, as John declares: ”to Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be the glory forever and ever” [Revelation 1:5-6]. Human rulers are puppets for the day, but Christ is King forever.
