The Best of the Portals of Prayer

Read: Revelation 7:9-17

“A great multitude … standing before the throne and the Lamb.”
Revelation 7:9

A Great Multitude

Here we have a thrilling glimpse of heaven. It is a vision, seen by John when he was banished to the Island, Patmos. We read this passage, and our hearts are filled to overflowing. Such is the end of faith for those who by God’s grace steadfastly look to Jesus. “For the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning it’s shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” [Hebrews 12:2]. Here is set before us the joy that awaits us. Surely we can endure our little crosses and despise shame with such a dazzling prospect to hearten us.
Before the throne and before the Lamb we shall stand, free from sin and from every curse of sin. The blood of the Lamb has made us clean, fit for Christ and His home. Troubles and tribulations, toils and conflicts are left behind. In our hands are the palms of victory. To serve Him who so graciously has redeemed us shall be our eternal delight. He shall meet and satisfy our every need.
A vast company shall spare us this blessed lot. All the holy angels shall with the great multitude of the redeemed join in an unending service of praise. From the vastness of this earth, God has gathered His Saints. On earth they did not know each other; they spoke various languages, and lived in every age of history. In eternity they will be one body, one heavenly body. May God grant us His grace to be one of the great multitude to large to count!
