The Best of the Portals of Prayer
Read: Romans 3:21-26 // Psalm 35:1-10
“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 3:23-24
Our Common Problem
There are some people who believe they do not sin. Apparently, they do not read, or do not believe, the words of the Apostle John: “if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” [1st John 1:8] If people have one thing in common, one problem that constantly eats away at them, it is sin. Paul reminds us of this when he preaches the Law to show us how we stand in relation to God. We stand condemned.
But then in the same breath, he relieves us of our shame and fear by telling us that we are saved despite out shortcoming. Because of Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross, our heavenly Father has declared that we are forgiven and at one with Him. He declares us justified made holy by His grace, because Jesus has redeemed us, that is, has purchased us at the price of His blood.
Once, we were lost, but now we are found; once dirty, now clean; once sick, now healthy. Because our sins are forgiven by Christ, we are heaven bound.
Thank You Lord, for dying for me on the cross. Increase my joy in this great gift. Amen.
