“Concerning Knowledge and Power”

“Therefore, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
[1st Corinthians 1:31]

Concerning this knowledge and its power the prophets have spoken gloriously and clearly prophesied, as in Isaiah 53:1, “out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.” This means that He will redeem them from their sin and snatch them from the devil’s jaw solely through this: that they know Him and who He is. Likewise Jeremiah tells us this: “Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” [Jeremiah 9:23-24]
