The Best of the Portals of Prayer
Read: Romans 5:6-11 // Psalm 113
“My kingdom is not of this world … for this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world – to bear witness to the truth.”
John 18:36-37
Culture Shock
Have you ever traveled to another country? The language may be different. The money they use maybe different? The food is often a shock to our bodies. Behaviors acceptable in one place are often viewed as rude in another.
Things were certainly different for Jesus when He left His heavenly throne to be born as a man on this earth. He was perfect and holy. He left heaven to come into a world full of sin and trouble – a world that was hostile to Him.
Would we choose to visit a country that was hostile to us? Would we choose to help people who are our enemies? Would we choose to be among people that want to kill us? Jesus did – but He is not like us – He is God’s Son. He chose to come to the earth, knowing that He would sacrifice His life for the very people who hated Him, mistreated Him, and put Him to death. That is God’s love.
Whoever believes in Jesus will be received into His kingdom. The beauty of heaven will be “out of this world”. And we will fit right in because by God’s forgiveness we have been made children of the King!
