Day by Day with Martin Luther

Read: Isaiah 43:14-50:11 Ephesians 3:1-4:32 Proverbs 24:1-6

The Promise of Godliness”

“Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment,…”
[1st Timothy 6:6]

The eagerness for money extends more widely than greed. It extends to all other things, to the desire for power, pleasure, gold, or silver. The man who is involved with greed has the source of every evil well up inside of him. We have hear Paul’s admonition against greed, which he describes as the “root of all evils”. We must, if we seek to live as a Christian, make sure we do not make room for wrath and a vengeful heart, love will not tolerate it. As many worries threaten us as there are grains of sand on the seashore, we must turn only to Christ.
